The Southern Pantry is opening in Detroit
For two years, I was “The Southern Pantry in Brooklyn, New York”. I created a store with the goal of building community and filling the store with honest food produced by local food artisans - who believed in taking their time, used the most sustainable ingredients and methods and prepared food the way it's meant to be made. I set out to help those small batch food artisans in Brooklyn grow and flourish. And they did and I am thankful for the many customers who either visited us or sent our gourmet gift sets into the homes of their family and friends!
While that joy of providing such a place for our community was thrilling, Hurricane Sandy destroyed my business, giving me the unexpected pleasure of starting over in my hometown of Detroit. “The Southern Pantry in Detroit, Michigan” is my next chapter. I’m bringing my penchant for southern hospitality, my passion for local food artisans and my commitment to the community all together. Immediately, I’m rebuilding my business by producing artisan gift sets. These gourmet gift sets go far beyond just being the best in edible gifts. They’re about small-batch excellence, about supporting Detroit food artisans and their top-notch products, and about knowing you have -- or are giving -- something really special. They say “made with love”, “made in Detroit”!
It's my passion for fresh, delicious foods that drives my product selection and the experience I love to share. I certainly have lots of ideas about how each product is made and the look and feel, but if there was a golden rule, it would be the satisfaction on treating your taste buds to something you just received and saying WOW that is good.
